Big C Eagle Award

Over the years Big C Lumber has been a quiet and humble provider of materials and guidance for numerous Schoolcraft community and school teams, projects, students and groups. There philanthropic efforts are to be honored as they have provided assistance for a number of years to our clubs and school district from our Robotics team to helping us with supplies to make games for our back to school night.

Dr. Dobbin said, “Big C has been amazingly helpful to the robotics team. With the donation
of materials, we have been able to build the field equipment for the competitions. This has
allowed our students to practice driving and delivering the game pieces prior to the
competition. We have also received much needed feedback from this to help determine if
modifications can be made to the robot before the day of the event to make the delivering of
the game pieces faster and more accurate. This has certainly helped in that this year we
started the competition season and had our best finish of 4th place.”

Does anyone know how long they have been a business? Since 1921.

Big C Lumber Value Statement

Value is defined as "That quality of a thing that makes it more desirable or useful". Whereas our corporate Service Promise defines what we promise to do for customers on a daily basis, our Value Statement defines who we are and what the proper employee perspective should be. These values beyond anything else have driven the success of our company for the last several decades. Integrity: People should trust that we do what we say we'll do and we'll do the right thing. Respect: We will show respect towards fellow employees, suppliers and especially customers.

Fun: We will endeavor to enjoy the job we do and have some fun every day.
Community: We will support the communities where we earn our living with our time and contributions.

Relationships: We will befriend those customers and suppliers who will welcome our friendship.
Caring: We will operate under the Golden Rule, treating all people as we want to be treated. Others that I appreciated reading:

Relationships: We will befriend those customers and suppliers who will welcome our friendship.

Impression: We will present ourselves in a way that inspires confidence. This includes our greetings, personal appearance, driving habits, job site behavior and every situation where we interact with the public.

Teamwork: Cooperation and support between employees is essential. Lack of cooperation can cause more harm than anything our competitors can do to us.

I have to tell you as a customer I so appreciate the people that work at Big C.. Whenever I am in there getting supplies it seems I always see a big guy with a huge smile, saying in a deep voice, “How can I help Rusty?” It’s those types of interactions that Tom provides that honors the company’s and our community values.

Would you please join me in honoring Big C as a Soaring Eagle recipient.
